It’s that time of year again and boy are we excited. Yes, it’s the designer swimwear tradeshow season and we’re writing to you live from one of the biggest women’s swimwear trade shows of the year MAGIC in Las Vegas.

With the release of the new women’s swimwear collections each July in Miami at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim, the following few months are followed by a slew of trade shows like MAGIC, giving us, your wonderful swimwear stockists, the opportunity of reviewing (and going crazy over) the following year’s range.

MAGIC is an annual fashion trade show covering everything from handbags to designer jeans to accessories. And, of course, let us not forget its specialty division SWIM, a showcase of some of the most coveted designer swimwear labels in the industry.

Selling swimwear online…

One of the best things about the internet is the range of different people you get to meet, and from all around the world.

Here at Azura Swimwear, we have customers stationed throughout the United States, as well as Europe, South America, Asia and Australia. It’s incredibly interesting from a geographical viewpoint, particularly as your mind wanders to these holiday destinations far and wide.

For me, it’s inspiring to think about the different lives that we all lead, the different cultures that we live in and all the different experiences we have as a result.

But what I love most is being able to share mutual interests, passions and loves with each other, in spite of the distances between us. Having spoken to many of our customers, swimwear is one of those things.

I know my partner feels the same way and we actually talk about it often. She tells me of customers who have come across a particular swimwear designer during their travels, like Maya Swimwear, and have fallen in love with the brand. Then, upon returning home, haven’t been able to find it again and have only been able to find it again online. People are just so happy, she tells me, once they have, and it’s great to be part of that experience, to get a little giddy about the swimsuits with them. It’s like discovering the particular swimsuit or swimwear brand all over again.

I think swimwear more than anything can cause you to fall hopelessly in love with a brand, or a particular cut. It is so sensual and sexy, and especially with designer swimwear, so striking.

I myself often speak with people living in other parts of the globe who haven’t come across some of our designer swimwear labels before. Their love of our designer swimwear collections and their appreciation of the different swimwear styles crystallizes my decision to work in this industry, and makes me appreciate it all the more. It’s such a pleasure to be able to bring something from one part of the world, like Beach Bunny from the US, and offer it to someone living in a completely different part, like in Denmark.

I have some friends living in Sydney, Australia, a fashion-conscious, swimwear savvy city who were blown away by the swimwear they saw on azuraswimwear.com. There are some gorgeous swimwear labels based in Australia (don’t worry, they’re coming soon!), so I can only take that as the biggest of compliments. But again, it was great to share something different with them, swimwear styles that would be so at home within the white sand beaches of Sydney, but equally unique too.

One girlfriend in particular couldn’t stop talking about Spellbound by Beach Bunny Swimwear. I even got an email from her at 2am about it! It just goes to show what passion beautiful swimwear can evoke in people!

2008 has only just turned March and it’s already been a fantastic year for all of our swimwear designers. If you’ve been reading Lifestyle Azura recently, you would have noticed our feature series on the 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. But Sports Illustrated, of course, isn’t the only magazine giving coverage to our fantastic swimwear designers and their incredible swimsuits.

Today, we’d like to celebrate the press success of one of our favorites here at Azura: Sauvage Swimwear by designer Elizabeth Southwood. Sauvage’s super sexy swimsuits have already made four magazine appearances to date, and these in some of the best magazines around including Vogue, Cosmo, In Style and Sports Illustrated.

We’d like to take a little extra time and a little extra energy for the Cosmo feature of Sauvage Swimwear, it being none other than our very own Jade Mountain 2 bandeau bikini! This serenely beautiful two piece swimsuit has been catching the attention of fashion editors from around the country since its debut late last year. What’s more, it’s sold right here at Azura Swimwear! In fact, Jade Mountain 2 by Sauvage Swimwear was the very first swimsuit to be featured in our ‘Bikini of the Week’ series. As I mentioned in that post (which, of course, you wouldn’t know because you didn’t read it and is in fact the whole reason for me saying this again!), this week we’ll be taking an in-depth look and journey through the much coveted 2008 issue, from the models, to the locations and of course, the beautiful swimsuits. Who made it in this year, who didn’t, you’ll find it all out here!

  

Sports Illustrated and Azura Swimwear

While we can’t take credit for the swimsuits themselves, Azura Swimwear is proud to stock many of this year’s selected swimwear designers. In the fiercely competitive and highly talented field of designer swimwear, Azura Swimwear designers Beach Bunny, Red Carter, Sauvage and Birdie Jo all made appearances in the 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. It’s a huge achievement and Azura Swimwear would like to congratulate them all. The women’s swimwear lineup in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is the most highly anticipated each year, so again our congratulations to all the swimwear designers featured.

If you haven’t seen a copy yet, make sure to grab one asap – this year’s is hot! You can also visit www.si.com to view all the pictures featured in the issue, plus the many more that couldn’t fit! It’d be a tough (well, some would argue) job selecting the top 100 images out of the many thousands that are taken, and a shame to not share all those beautiful swimsuit shots. Luckily, Sports Illustrated is kind enough to share them with us all, so do take a look if you get a chance.
